Super Sunday!

If I told you what I had today for lunch, you'd probably going to kill me out of J E A L O U S Y.

Mua ha ha ha ha

But let's start with what I did in the morning first.

We are only allowed 8 departments to choose from for our 8 months practical here so I decided to make good use of my weekends to explore other deparments to learn as much as I could.

And so I went.

Went to where? You ask.
The ENT dept.
Eh?
Ear, Nose and Throat, I said.

I had hearing problem for quite a while and since I arrived early, I asked for a FREE hearing test where they put me in a very funny looking box with tea colour wallpapers that looked like it's been there since the 60's.

My result shows that I do have hearing problem and it's from within my ear. ( Oh my! ) But it's not too serious lah, it just that my hearing is poorer than normal people. So my teacher asked me to feel at home and go help myself for an ear massage.

I used the massager for 10 minutes, oh, it's so comfortable. I felt a sudden relieve for my ear. I should come every Sunday from now on to do it. I wonder if it's the same as German Ear Candling treatment? Any comments?

I should be grateful I don't have to use this for loss-of-hearing treatment.

It seemed that Sunday is a children's day at the hospital. A lot of little kiddies came. They were so cute! But poor them, most of them had Paranasal Sinusitis - inflamation, difficulty breathing through nose, sneezing frequently and mucus drainage problem - and Throat Infection.

Most Shandong children are active and cooperative.

But most interesting of all, was how many 'housekeeping' for ears we had to perform for cute children that couldn't hear!

A lot of parents, especially in Shandong, don't know that they have to help clean their children's ear once in a while. And for this cute little girl, she had in her ears EIGHT freaking years of wax built up.

Aha! This is what you use for stubborn ear wax that's as dry as a rock in your ear: Pump the water in using a syringe.

It took a lot of water and numbers of application before our little could look like this:

I didn't ask but I think this is a typical Gemini face. I just know.

Err... make your guess!

Most of you, especially my handsome brother and Sook Fan, who're practising doctors now, must be curious if we still use Chinese Herbs for ENT treatment. The asnwer is yes. Patients are given the choice to use both Western and TC medicine. If they want chinese herbs, we will have to check their pulse and perform all necessary diagnosis to decide what herbs to use.

For instance, herbal remedies for sinusitis (with infection) would be those leaves and flowers that belong to the LIVER and LUNG meridiens to 'clean' the 'heat' and because they belong to the LUNG meridien, it can also make your lungs stronger. These herbs have got this QI properties that go upwards when consumed, so it's good for the upper respiratory system.

There are very useful herbs to 'open' your 'throat' too if you've lost your voice!

After a funfilled and much actioned morning. I told my uncle colleague that I'm DYING for proper food.

So we explored the city a bit and found, WOW, Isetan! I shall visit Shandong Isetan on my next trip.

Also bumped into these 2 people drinking tea in the middle of nowhere. ha!

Oh, look this place is so nice! I've always like the ancient appeal so I followed the 2 ladies. I'm sure I will find a nice restaurant there.

And yes, we went straight into this OLD BEIJING restaurant. And ordered:

Jelly Fish mixed with Veggie Salad. Oh my, it's appertizing! They marinated it in nice white vinegar and sugar. The jelly fish has got good rubbery texture because it's fresh and perfect with the sweet and crunchy veggie. Reminded me of my Mum's chinese salad. What a great summer dish. Price: RMB 8

Da..dang! Ho ho ho! Don't you think they are cute? I've NEVER had baby lobsters before in my life, I was so excited.

MUA HA HA HA! One big freaking bowl of them! I don't even need to tell you how nice the meat is. Took us 2 hours to finish! Only regret was, I forgot to tell them to put half a pot instead of the whole of salt. Price: RMB 22. So damn cheap.
