Dwarf Lilyturf Tuber

If you haven't known, besides a lot of things, I love wild plants and flowers. And it's one of the many hundreds reasons that drifted me to study Traditional Chinese Medicine.

When I visit a country or a new place, you will find me pre-occupied checking out the followings:

  1. Food
  2. Wild plants
  3. Museums + historical sites
  4. Books
  5. Local crafts

Yes... I'm quite a boring person, AIN'T I???

I guess I like wild flowers because of their SPIRIT:
silence and self-reliance.

I believe silence is where you can find your soul.

And when you are connected to your own soul, you will be able to find the joy of life.

Wild flowers never ask for attention, they are not vain, and they survive in the wild blending harmoniously with its surrounding.

How very 潇洒 Xiao Sa (Carefree and cool)!

My no.1 idol, man!

So I was looking around my campus today for some interesting plants and decided to give you a mini intro of the botanical displays I've found.

Dwarf Lilytuft

Dwarf lilyturf is wildly found around Jinan that brooms in Summer time.
The tuber (enlarged stem where food is stored) has been widely used for curing heart and lung diseases.

I guess since all the energy and resources are stored there, it must be pretty good.

I remembered when I was still a 1st yr TCM student, I was having difficulty sleeping for quite a while because I'm not used to the hectic schedule of working day time and attending class at night. My best friend, who's studying TCM with me, diagnosed me as lack of YING rooted from the Kidney Meridien (too much brain work) so he put Dwarf Lilyturf tubers up to test. He bought 20grams of it and made the concoction with other combination and made me drank one small bowl of it.

Result: I slept like a baby that night.

That was my first ever chinese herbal concoction and I was totally gobsmacked at how high the degree of certainty and predictability TCM theories are. That totally put me into absolute faith of the ancient knowledge.

I think you should, too, my friends!

Oh, speaking of plants, those at home miss you very much! They are not faring so... well. If you get my drift.
THe weather is hot, I try my best to water them. The basil, died and revived, now it is blooming! Don't know how it survives, but it does.

Ya, the basil is amazing, it can revived when it's totally dried up - as long as you keep the trunk. Just remember not to trimming it when it's dried up.
