Bizzare Restaurant

This is as yet my happiest night in Mountain East.

I received an SMS from one of my Malaysian colleagues around noon time informing me that the Chairman of Shandong Returned Overseas Chinese Association cum Shandong Hakka Federation wants to buy us dinner tonight.

Huh? Apa itu?

Not another round of cut throat alcohol feast I hope.

But alcohol or not, I'm going. I want food!

Pink building!

We were picked up by 2 of what I would say the most luxurious cars I've ever been escorted in Mountain East. Gosh, how so priviledge! I wonder what are we going to have for dinner?

Oh my, I couldn't believe it when the driver stopped in front of a German looking restaurant - the Golden Hans Beer Club. What could be better than a beer club in a place like Mountain East? It's buffet dinner some more!

The way our waiters dress here is somewhat bizzare: suspender and lederhosen? And the waitresses all looked like Dutch ladies in gingham. Hmm... Could it be a Bavarian restaurant? Am I still in Mountain East??

Once seated, the waiters kept coming to us with sticks of grilled meat, tofu, veggie. I swear, they were using sword to cut those meat.

I am up on cloud number nine.

But what I like best was the SQUID.
So thick and sweet!!!!!!
I'm already drooling blogging here. I think Felicia will love this.

They even have young musicians from nearby art college.

Well, I went to the buffet bar and was bitterly let down because they are not serving western food! But they do have some rather bizzare dishes.

Chinese starters

My Malaysian colleague told me fish skin is considered an expensive dish. I wonder why. I stil like the meat better.

Don't ask me what this is, unless you REALLY want to know.

Century Egg and Salted Egg lovers will find China a heaven. Quality is much better and delectable. That's where they came from in the first place anyway...

They even make mooses out of it.

Weird, aren't they? Really not your typical buffet dishes.

But nothing could be more bizzare than this. I want to challenge my readers to Yeng's question of the day: What do you think those brown looking things are?

Winner will get a free return ticket to Mountain East!

No lah, just kidding. O_o
But do make a guess, I want to know how smart you are... haha

Incessant supply of meat

When I returned to my seat, my plate was already filled up with all sorts meat cut.

And as if it's not enough, they kept coming continuously with different kind of food stabbed on the skew. But the Chairman of Shandong Returned Overseas Chinese Association cum Shandong Hakka Federation told me that the most precious cut would be the beef shoulder and tongue.

Best cut or not, I no like because too chewy for my baby jaw.

Faiz, want some? :-p

Holy cow! That's a big tongue, ok?

Anyhow, my favourites for the night are the cakes. If anything, I'm a cake fanatic.

I love cake so much I want to call meself the cake fairy.

Must take photo on a night like this.

For RMB35, this is so worth it! If you remember how much I paid for my 2 pathetic chicken wings at KFC.

The Chairman of Shandong Returned Overseas Chinese Association cum Shandong Hakka Federation told us that they are a government body which aims to help and look out for overseas chinese. Now, if you ask me, that's very nice, I say. They are like the Big Mamas.
