Ear Acupuncture

I've mastered the technique of sneeking into lectures, meetings and doctors' office better than anything ever since I arrived in Mountain East.

We are special you see. Well, officially, our batch is here to do our so-called practical (without pay). And the academic administration really sucks compared to the UK higher education system. All the subjects and lecturers are really good but the chinese are just going nowhere with structural teaching trying too hard to categorise ancient wisdom with the wrong kind of perspective from... err... the west. If you get the saying love your wife instead of trying to understand her you will know what I mean. You do know what I mean, right?

The coffee is great, but the saucer and the cup that hold it is pathetic.

I'm still sneeking into the 乡镇医师 (physicians from smaller states) lectures from time to time. And am I glad that I managed to sneek into something I didn't learn in Malaysia: Aricular Acupuncture aka Ear Acupuncture.

The lecturer started off with a rather interesting topic of how your ear can reveal a lot about yourself, i.e. health + personality. I'd really love to tell you all that but that would require a lot of effrot from me to illustrate them in diagrams due to the lacking of my linguistic ability. What's more, I'm sure I'll be sending you off to dreamland again when I start talking about all the Yin and Yang thingy, wouldn't I? Well, I think you should at least know that one of the insteresting facts about your ear is that it is a smaller upside down fetus version of your body.

So, there you go, something your biology teacher missed. :-)

There are a lot more correspondent points scattered around the visible baby. For instance, your endoctrinal system, thyroid, etc.

Ear Acupuncure is indeed simply about treating the correspondent part of the body represented on your ear, either using needle, laser or applying pressure; though seed acupressure is more popular.

But first off, besides memorising over 120 points, you'll need to learn how to diagnose it.

There's a whole mature system of diagnosing diseases by checking on the colour and changes on your ear. For instance, you can find out if a person is having trouble sleeping by checking on the 神门 shenmen acupunture point. An obvious red line could be observed. I've tried it out already, guaranteed accurate.

A complete list of what and how of aricular acupuncture can be found here or 这里。For full ear anatomy click here. 推荐书:黄丽春的《耳穴诊断治疗学》

For those who moan inceasantly about how boring life is, I highly recommend taking up aricular acupuncture. Reason: it's way too interesting not to learn. If this still couldn't spark your enthusiasm, I give up.

This is what we had for lunch, by the way.

One of the most delicious homecook meals we ever had here.

Now, is this enough to convert you into a vegetarian? :-)

This is very interesting. If someone has trouble sleeping and if you apply pressure over Shemen acupuncture point, will the person experiences pain? Is the treatment continue to apply pressure at that point till problem solve?
